Course Policies & Expectations
Effective January 2026
1. Financial Commitment & Withdrawals
Enrollment at Homeschool History Outsourced is a commitment to a shared learning community and the full duration of the course (Full Year for most subjects; Single Semester for Texas History). I do not offer month-to-month enrollment.
- Registration Fee: A $65.00 non-refundable fee is required to secure a student’s place in the class.
- June 1st Commitment Date: This is the final date for penalty-free tuition withdrawals.
- Annual & Course Commitment: Because I secure host locations and commit to my annual schedule and travel based on the June 1st roster, withdrawals after June 1st are subject to a Withdrawal Fee equal to the remainder of the course tuition.
- Travel Surcharge: For organized groups located between 15 and 25 miles from NW McKinney, a $50.00 travel surcharge per student is applied to the annual tuition. This fee is non-refundable after the June 1st commitment date.
- Sustainability & Integrity: This policy ensures the sustainability of the course. My Socratic-style discussions depend on a consistent group dynamic, and I often travel significant distances to facilitate these classes. This commitment ensures that the promises made to host families and fellow students are honored.
- Payment Plans: Installment plans are provided for financial convenience and do not constitute a month-to-month subscription. If a student withdraws mid-course, the remaining balance of the tuition is due in full immediately.
- June 15th Decision Date: Final determination of in-person sections is made on June 15th. If I cancel a section on this date, the registration fee and any tuition already paid will be fully refunded.
- Late Fees: Payments are due on the 1st of the month. A $10.00 late fee is applied after the 5th.
2. Academic Expectations & Integrity
- Socratic-style classes depend on every student arriving prepared to engage.
- Preparation: Students must dedicate time each week to assigned readings and prep work to participate in class discussions.
- Online Requirements: For online sections or “pivot” days, a working camera and microphone are required. Cameras must remain on to ensure engagement.
- Academic Honesty: I prohibit all forms of plagiarism. All work must be the result of the student’s own thoughts and research.
- First offense: Zero for the assignment.
- Second offense: Failing grade for the course.
3. Attendance & Communication
- Attendance: Attendance is mandatory for face-to-face classes. If a student is unable to attend, I must be notified in advance. Please ensure students stay home until symptom-free for at least 24 hours without medication.
- Communication: Students and parents should check Discord (preferred), Email, and Text regularly for updates.
- Parent Involvement & Grading: Parents are encouraged to set up a Canvas Parent Account. Upon request, parent accounts can be configured to automatically send student grades to parents’ email. Final grade reports are issued at the end of the school year.
4. Campus Etiquette & Safety
- Host Homes: We are guests in private homes. Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before class and ensure students are picked up promptly. Respect for the host’s property and belongings is required at all times.
- Allergies: Please notify me via email before the first day of class regarding any airborne or contact allergies.
5. Disclaimer
Changes to the course calendar or assignments may be made at my discretion. Students will be notified of any changes via Discord, Email, or Text.
