Refunds & Withdrawal Policy
The Enrollment Commitment
Enrollment is a commitment for the entire duration of the course (Full Year for most subjects; Single Semester for Texas History). I do not offer month-to-month enrollment.
Why do we require this commitment?
- The Socratic Experience: The quality of a Socratic-style class depends entirely on the group dynamic. When student counts drop too low, the depth of discussion and the overall quality of the learning experience diminish for every student remaining in the room.
- Instructor Sustainability: I often travel significant distances to reach host locations. I commit to my teaching schedule and travel for the duration of the course based on the June 1st roster. This tuition ensures that professional time and expertise are fairly compensated.
- Host Partnerships: I secure physical locations and honor commitments to host families based on the number of students enrolled at the start of the summer.
Withdrawal Policy
- Registration Fee: The $65.00 registration fee is non-refundable. The only exception is if I cancel a section (e.g., on the June 15th Decision Date), in which case the fee and any tuition paid will be fully refunded.
- June 1st Deadline: This is the final date for penalty-free tuition withdrawals.
- Withdrawals after June 1st: I understand the difficulty of navigating scheduling uncertainty in the late summer. To ensure families can plan the year with total confidence, I finalize my roster by June 15th. Because firm commitments are made to hosts and my own schedule based on this roster, withdrawals after June 1st are subject to a Withdrawal Fee equal to the remaining course tuition.
- Purpose: This policy ensures the course’s long-term sustainability. When a student enrolls, I reserve that seat for the duration of the class and commit to a teaching and travel schedule. This fee ensures that the commitments made to host families are honored, protecting the class environment for everyone involved.
Note: While these are firm policies, I recognize that catastrophic life events happen. If your family faces an unforeseen hardship, please reach out to me directly.
